How to steal the best outfit ideas from FRIENDS

When it comes to fashion, binge-watching Netflix can actually be more inspiring than reading the newest Vogue. What if you could find the best outfit ideas from FRIENDS tv show? You would have plenty of style muses to choose from!

Well, Phoebe’s laid-back bohemian style may not have been the most fashionable back then, but it sure was vibrant and full of fun details. Her personality really shined in her colorful outfits and bold, oversized accessories. Monica gets a lot of props for her classic and simple style. She was always wearing timeless pieces like denim jackets, chunky sweaters, and dark jeans. Rachel’s slip dresses over knit tops, plaid skirts, and tailored leather jacket pieces are pure ‘90s and at the end of the show, even ’00s inspiration and we all know that’s super hot right now.

We asked some of our favorite influencers to copy some iconic styles from FRIENDS. Some of the styles are 100% copied, some only inspired the female cast of the show.

Let’s start with Ally (@ally.shiny). Her style icon is Rachel Green and this is the reason:

One of the reasons why I watch FRIENDS over and over again is definitely because of the looks of the character Rachel, played by Jennifer Aniston. With the perfect mix of chic office styles (pantsuit) and cute looks (plaid skirts), the show fascinates me as a fashion lover again and again.

The easiest way to dress like Rachel is to wear only one color with a printed fashion piece. Wear the pleated print skirt with a white shirt of your choice and complete the style with a hat or a short vest. Don’t use too many colors in one outfit to keep it simple. You can even wear one color from head to toe.

Selma (@selmatakala) loves both Rachel and Monica. This is what she thinks is the reason why FRIENDS inspire her so much:

Friends style inspires me with their twists on basic pieces. Monica’s laid-back classics and Rachel’s use of color and cute always trendy looks are my favorites.

Another tip for copying Rachel is to dress up really conservative but then show some skin. Show your cute upper belly, roll up your pants to reveal your ankles, or wear a top that shows your arms. It’s casual Friday, peeps!

And what about Pia (@piaxjose)? Her style is the perfect combination of casual Monica, bohemian Phoebe, and preppy Rachel, but one of those muses are more important to her than the other ones are:

“My biggest ‘Friends’ style inspiration is Monica. Monica’s looks from the 90s can still be worn today. Everyone should have a good pair of  jeans, a shirt, and a little black dress in their wardrobe.“

The key to copying Monica’s style is to combine girly fashion pieces to any sports trend. Wear a slip dress over a turtleneck or a sweater with a mini skirt. And those mom jeans of yours will look really nice with a crop top and clean pairs of white sneakers!

But let’s not forget the rest of the cast of the show! Phoebe is a 100% that 70’s girl and a maxi dress addict. Try copying Chandler’s style with cool knitted vests or get a pair of tight leather pants to be like Ross did. And what about our dear Joey? Just order some pizza and enjoy it in your favorite jeans!
